Mark McEathronThoughts and Reflections

It has been 6 weeks since returning from El Salvador, it seems like yesterday. I have many memories of the trip that I don't think I will ever forget. My expectations before the trip were:

See many people: I think I did at least 500 eye exams, I saw many people.

Help some people: More than I thought I would. The most common complaint I heard was, "I can't read my bible". Being able to help even one person read the bible again made the entire trip worthwhile.

Meet some people: The trip started with 27 strangers and ended with 27 dear friends. I won't see many ever again, but I can instantly recall their smile.

Learn some Spanish: IF I ever am in a situation in the states where I have to tell someone to, "Look at the light" I will be okay. Otherwise, I should have tried to learn more there and wish I had.

See a new part of the world: Being able to get out of the city and really see how the people lived made me feel like I had really been in El Salvador.

Thank you Peace Health for giving us this opportunity. I can assure you that even though we worked hard and gave allot, we received back tenfold for what we gave.
