Vincent Matteucci: Ophthalmologist in Bellingham. This is Vincent’s first surgical mission, and he is a new member of Surgical Eye Expeditions (SEE).
Jinny Farrar: Our translator, fluent in Spanish, and also an EKG Tech in Eugene. Jinny helped with registration, tracking and post-op evaluations of patients. Jinny is currently filling out applications to PA programs as well.
Kate Vikstrom: Community Relations Specialist in at Ketchikan for 10 years, also an artist primarily in watercolor; She joined this brigade as photojournalist.
Kathy Garcia: Coordinates the mission stateside, based in Eugene. She formerly managed the flow of a huge radiology suite, and is a genius with detail.
Barbara Vander Meer: OR Tech, Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, Oregon. Barb is taking pre-requisites for becoming a PA, with a goal of ultimately working in rural health.
Anup Deol: Optometrist in Snohomish, Washington, in private practice for 11 years. Anup has participated in many missions, though this is her first surgical brigade. Born in India, she recently led a mission to her home area there. This week she will be doing pre & post-op care and prescribing glasses.
Mark Drabkin: Ophthalmologist, Sacramento, California. Mark has done many SEE trips, and is going on to Nicaragua from San Salvador to participate in another surgical mission.
Sister Eleanor Gilmore: First an OR RN in Eugene, then a hospital administrator. She worked in El Salvador in the 1980s, with Jesuit Refugee Services. In 1999 she established PazSalud as a component of the strengthening mission focus in PeaceHealth. The purpose was to make mission more profound for PeaceHealth employees; to take a look at mission from an enormously different perspective.
Shari Lapof: Shari has been an ER and an OR RN, and is now working in the Center for Senior Health at St. Josephs Hospital, Bellingham.
